From a series of interviews I hosted and produced at Kaladi Coffee in Denver, here is Sarah’s story. I’d asked her to tell me what her therapist told her she should do. The answer: not be afraid to express her needs.

My parents’ relationship began through a series of letters they exchanged after first meeting in Florida in 1955. Over the course of 18 months, they wrote nearly a thousand letter while Dad was on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific and Mom was in Florida and Tennessee. They were married in 1957. The audio portrait I produced in 2007 describes how they fell in love through those letters and how they have remained in love since then.
